Dad checked off two songs on Monday night that he felt would be difficult for him….Dream On and Wannabe…BUT BUT BUT….when he got home, he decided he simply needed to practise those and it would be just fine. AAACK! I have a feeling Swifter Than Flame will also give him pause but he really liked it so didn’t check it off.
On Wednesday, we started Forte Plus. My Dad thought we were supposed to go pick up my daughter and head to the high school like we do on Monday nights, but he quickly accepted the notion of an afternoon choir…I don’t think he remembered it from last year though and so I will confess that I was mourning that loss of his memory as we drove together and as we entered the room.
He much enjoyed it and thought he maybe knew some of the pieces. Indeed. No need to check off any pieces to not sing. YAY! He wasn’t sure he understood the story but I think once he has a script in hand, it will help.
As we were rehearsing on Wed afternoon, I received a call from the new AHS case worker…they will be coming next week to do an assessment to see if he can continue with the level of support they are providing. I’m HUGELY worried. If he presents well (which he well might), then they will take away some of the helper hours. I’m gonna ask them to come at 8:00 in the morning so I can wake him and they can then witness his most confused time of the day. I know how this sounds but I need them to help us more, not less and if that means that I have to trot him out at his worst time of the day to prove my point, then so be it. I apologize to all of you tax paying, caring and contributing members of our society. But I really don’t know what else to do and I’m not even remotely sure this will even work.
AHS will likely find a reason to reduce his hours…I know that….there’s nothing I can do. I am at their mercy.
