My Dad LOVES his new walker!!! I decided not to wait for AHS….haven’t heard from them for 2 weeks now so I’m moving on. We ordered a walker online and just WOW. He loves it. He uses it. But here’s the huge thing….he now walks waaay faster, his posture is more upright and he’s looking around at the world AS he walks! WOOHOO
Of course, we tried having him store it in our storage shed but he forgot it was in there so now we take it inside and “park” it at his back door. Just more vacuuming for me but not even remotely problematic. This I can do.
And yes, we booked a flight to Winnipeg and a hotel for all of one night since that’s all my husband and I can manage in September. Dad is both happy and unhappy. And why wouldn’t he be? He wants to go for longer of course and yet he just really wants to go there. Lil awaits. So yup, sounds and seems insane but here I go! I guess that’s why this blog is called “ME, my dad and dementia”….hmmm….silly me….
He has totally forgotten that he was unhappy with all the “fast” songs last year in So Noted so my next task is to convince him to only sing the songs I deem as “Eric songs”. Wish me luck on this one. He’s worried about being the only one to “sit out” certain songs.
The other day, he was so excited to see his volunteer visitor friend, that he made not one, but two breakfasts! But even better? He laughed about it and shrugged it off…in a real way…not a chagrined or sad way. Wow. I love that. And guess what the big deal was? He got to show off his new walker to his volunteer friend – twice! HAH
It’s a great week and we get to finish it off with the choir BBQ!
