It struck me quite deeply the other day that all 3 of our choirs are working on shows that are really about helping to see the world as smaller, at a time when it feels like the world is getting bigger and people are further apart than say even 10ish years ago.
Cleopatra gave us a show filled with unexpected songs, much humour, food, drink and just really cool entertainment. That show allowed all of us to simply enjoy, to relax and to be with other diverse humans, even total strangers, in a room doing that exact same thing.
Forte Plus is working on a show that embraces folk songs and folk tales from around the world and ultimately the coming together of generations. Sometimes the stereotype has a twist and we open our eyes a little wider as a result. The humour lives in the script and the pathos lives in the songs.
So Noted Singers presents a show on May 1 and 2 that brings empathy to the fore in unexpected ways. How do we see the world? How do others see the world? What if we were released from our small ideas and set free to see the bigger picture? Unfettered.
