A fresh start. A time to reinvent ourselves. New beginnings. These are all words we use at this time of year….never mind the big “R” word! “Reso-what-now?”
January itself is named after Janus the God of beginnings and transitions. He is a two-headed God looking back to the past and ahead to the future.
Things will change this year as they are wont to do. We can happily embrace that while squinting suspiciously at it. I’m not a fan of change and yet I absolutely long for change. Yeah….there’s that…..just a little human dichotomy. Yes, you can welcome me to the club….haha.
This term in our organization, we are filling our time well as we look forward to Cleopatra’s first big “swing” in Feb followed by Irish Night in Mar and then Forte Plus and Seniors Acting Out Together give us an old fashioned radio play in April while in May our So Noted Singers (and Cleo) present a completely unique show about “time”. We end our term with a pop-up 50s diner (burgers, fries, shakes) complete with tons of singing all the hits from that fab era, classic cars and classic candy and….wait for it…..it’s a “Mother’s Day” event to boot!
If art is how we decorate space, then music is how we decorate time.
