A small miracle happened the other day.
My father came over to “talk to me about the music for this term”. I was worried but ready to quickly acquiesce and allow him to quit everything. I gave him all the So Noted music about 2 weeks ago and he’s been going over it on a daily basis.
In particular, I was worried about 3 songs that I felt sure he was either not going to like or would simply find too difficult at this point in his life. Those songs you ask? Best Of Bond (medley), Time Warp and a piece simply called Time.
And then the miracle happened….
“I am loving the music this term” he brightly announced. “It feels non-linear and interesting in a show about time”. “I really like the songs”.
um, wow!
But can you guess his favorite? I’ve already listed it….that’s your clue!
“That first piece in my binder – that’s just amazing”.
I always arrange the music in alphabetical but I thought he was referring to Time since it’s ultra cool and also a smidge difficult. But nope, I wasn’t remembering how the alphabet begins. A is followed by B.
My Dad loves the Best Of Bond medley. Bet you did not see that coming! I sure didn’t!!
Of course, once we start to really practise it we’ll know if his love of this medley will remain. It’s also a smidge difficult.
But for me….what a great way to start the new year!
Of course, I have yet to hand him the songs for Forte Plus……HAH! Nah, they’ll be fine – As Time Goes By, Hernando’s Hideaway, Blue Skies, etc. All music that he will love and so will I.
