One of my Dad’s top 10 songs lives within the musical My Fair Lady. You will never guess….well, maybe you will…. On The Street Where You Live. The movie version was on TV this past weekend. I sent my husband down to quickly tell my Dad and help him find the right channel.
When my husband came back, there were tears in his eyes.
These are the moments we will miss when my Dad departs this world either in body or in mind. What a dichotomy my husband and I share. We long for our freedom and independence and yet we very much love and appreciate the time we have together with my Dad.
My husband was moved by these moments with my Dad and how we live together and what we share together. How beautiful.
Just this past week my daughter and her wife took my Dad to the Winspear. He really enjoyed it. And he remembers it now almost daily! He thought the place “felt familiar” which it should, since he used to go regularly to concerts plus we’ve performed there 3 or 4 times over the past many years.
Overall, Dad seems more stable…maybe the anti-depressant/sleep aide is kicking in. I’m officially calling it – it’s a win!
He read the composer’s thoughts on our stunning (and difficult) piece called “Time” and he now feels like he understands it better and enjoys it more. Another win!
In the meantime, I have a feeling my Dad is gonna love the swing show that Cleopatra is doing this Saturday. Me too.
