So Noted Singers & Forte Plus

me, my dad and dementia #42 – but where is AHS?

absolutely no word from them…crickets. Our case worker thought we would hear something by the end of last week so I am unsure how to proceed. We took Dad to his doc to get all the forms signed and the prescriptions done. We did the ultrasound on his legs. (everything looks good – YAY) We’ve figured out the schedule for the potential helper. We cut down some regular rubber gloves so Dad can use those in the meantime to pull up his compression socks. (but we have to make sure we hand them to him and then hide them or he’ll throw them away – haha)

We’ve been researching client directed home care to see if we qualify.

We find out if we can fly at the end of this week! We are hopeful that all the gas bubble in my husband’s eye will be gone so that we can get on a flight to Winnipeg yet in August and give Dad his dream of seeing his sister again.

In the meantime, we took Dad to Costco the other day and discovered that while pushing a grocery cart is very much akin to using a walker, it is also fraught with peril….for others! No, no, he didn’t bang into anyone. His spatial awareness is still pretty good but his awareness of others around him is pretty much gone. So glad he isn’t driving his car anymore! Yes, that was the lesson we took away from that outing – HAH.

Ready for the U turn?

Update: Um…..Bayshore called…..so this is the company that our government in their “must profit” mode hired to look after us all as home care services. The hoops are insane. And I thought it was bad with AHS. Bayshore totally wins the gold medal by several lengths of the insanity pool on this one.

I have no doubt that the individuals working for both AHS and Bayshore are caring, decent and kind people. But the system is set up to make it so frustrating that you either die trying to get it to work properly or you give up and just take what you can get or you get a second job so you can pay for private health care.

I’m sorry. I guess I just need to vent and perhaps the blog is giving me that opportunity. Don’t read it if it upsets you. I totally understand. Let’s hope next week brings more hope!
