Who knew that it would be so challenging to find the right “fit” for us and for my Dad?
We started with a lovely young woman who – as Dad described her – was “enigmatic” and as I described her was “hard to connect with”. But man, could she clean!
Actually, thanks to this young woman’s work this past week we discovered what we do and don’t need and what we do and don’t want and even more importantly, what schedule works best for all of us. I don’t know if she would understand my gratitude since the company will have to say “not a good fit” to her but she totally has my gratitude since I learned on her back.
In a nutshell, we discovered that Dad doesn’t like having people around in the evenings. I think he likes some “down time” to just watch a good nature show or a ball game (GO JAYS!…see how I snuck that in?) or just do his word search puzzles.
But now the hunt for a caregiver begins anew. Although…..I might have found someone! I’ll keep you all posted.
In the meantime, Dad turned 88 on Sunday! We made a big Thanksgiving meal to celebrate since we were in Jasper during actual Thanksgiving.
Oh and now I also search for slip-in boots for Dad. He loves to walk and he loves his slip-in Sketchers so now I’m on the hunt for slip-in winter boots. Bet they’re out there! Yup, found ’em – not cheap but will be totally worth it.
