So Noted Singers & Forte Plus

me, my dad and dementia #66: second-degree burns, etc etc etc…

Well I feel just horrible. Somehow I didn’t notice that first of all, my Dad’s kettle was quite literally coming apart and second of all, that he had burned himself with boiling water as a result. Plus no, he didn’t tell me either….

So, now we’re using bandaids and vit E and keeping an eye on his finger and wrist. But the big question for me is, how did I miss this? And for at least a whole day (maybe two) before I even noticed?! YIKES

Anyhoo, we have a new kettle but it has an extra “step” to it so I hope he will remember or figure it out anew each time. Yeah….I see what I wrote there. I’ll just give him my kettle and keep the new one myself.

If I could only pour boiling water on our street! See how I segued there? Our streets are absolutely horrible. Over our almost 30 years here, we’ve maybe seen snow plows come through 5 or 6 times. So yes, we are used to being ignored and yet paying our taxes. But this year is beyond horrible. My Dad can quite literally not cross the street at the corners with his walker or even get over the snow if he tries to cross in the middle of the street. I would rant more but everyone in Edmonton has already done that for me. Clearly, something needs to change and no, seceding from Canada is not the solution.

My father considers himself Canadian. A Canadian who happens to reside in Alberta. nice. I like that. Me too!

Then he says to me…..are there people who live on Greenland or is it uninhabited? This is a man who can still point to almost any country on his globe at the drop of a hat. This is a man who used to know all the capitals of pretty much all countries. Ah well, at least he holds the same contempt for the “crazy orange man” that we all do.
