This is not a battle to fight nor one that I can even win so yup, we are embracing spinach in my Dad’s morning porridge. I’m pretty sure that one of these mornings, he’ll remember he has that ice cream in his deep freeze and will add that to his oatmeal!
He finished the Japan lecture series and is now looking forward to sessions on China’s history. Um…confession….the other day after his Japan lecture, he said to me that the “Japan-China conflict” was the start of World War 2 and I said “sure, sure” but thought “no, no, that’s not a thing”. But it IS! I looked it up and it really is!
On Monday night, my Dad said that his new favorite choir song is….Woodriver. And…he’d really like to sing it. But of course, Cleo is singing it so we’ll see if he hums along at the show. I’m gonna guess he will!
Routines and white boards might be more important to me than to him. That’s my new discovery this week. Well, a little chaos never hurt anyone right? Still, I’m gonna keep going with the routines and white boards!
On Wednesday morning though, he forgot how a ball point pen works….so odd. He remembered how his mechanical pencil works though! Later that day, at Forte Plus, he decided to use his Yiddish accent when reading the African stuff….um….I was unsure how to handle that. In the car on the way home, he said to me “we should mark that (when to use the accent) in my script”. So yup, I was surprised he remembered but sadly, yup, it was already marked in his script. Still, he read well!
RIP to Stephen Lewis. My Dad and I drove out to Camrose to see him speak quite a few years ago. Riveting and eloquent speaker! And huge advocate for the women of Africa. What Happens When A Woman Takes Power? go google it and see what happens….!!! (Cleo is singing this in the So Noted show)
Happy Easter everyone!
