We bought one! We tried it out at our daughter and daughter-in-law’s place this past weekend while there for dinner. Tucked it into the trunk of our SUV and pulled it out after dinner to go for a walk. Dad got into it but then kept getting out of it since….”well I’m still fine to walk so I don’t really need this yet” was his mantra. So, guess what I did?….I made him push the rest of us around! tee hee. This only slightly back fired since he quite liked doing that…..too funny! In-between him pushing us, we took turns pushing him too and there was an unspoken agreement among all of us that we should keep him in that chair as much as possible. I’m not holding my breath on him really wanting to use the chair, but it’s a good small start.
He was quite confused and foggy almost all of last week but this week he has seemed much better again. So weird. More “with it”, more focused, more engaged and generally happier. um, how do we recreate this more consistently? Or is this because he was out of his routine last week?
Last Friday, he actually left his lecture series early and went to sit outside in the sunshine waiting for me to pick him up. Why you ask? He was very distressed by China’s history (which he understood as current, not the past) of treating their poor so very poorly and the utterly hard lives they lived. He has one last lecture on China today, so we’ll see if he wants to go or not. Could be interesting. Definitely tricky if it’s raining as predicted.
Now we wait to see if he removes his window air conditioner on a daily basis like last year….it’s a bit of work to keep putting it back in so we may try a big sign on it but then he’ll be insulted….it’s tricky….life is tricky people.
