We’re about to head out to the magical island so I’ll just give you a quick update.
Yes, he LOVED the show on Saturday night. Me too! HAH
He is maintaining happy thoughts for the most part. Interesting side note….about a week ago, he was full out angry that we had “taken his pencil sharpener without his permission”…..um….no….and….what? Anyhoo, the anger was short lived and has not returned so whew. But yes, I know it could as it did with my Mom.
And the most beautiful thing happened. An amazing woman from an amazing organization reached out to me to offer assistance in a very real and tangible way! I feel as light as a cloud. I feel like I could fly. I feel like a weight has been lifted just from the offer. For all of you who have offered your help, your love and your positive thoughts….all of that lifts me too. Sometimes I can’t even describe the feeling. But I know that you’re all out there and for that I am grateful.
Packing for our trip is proving challenging. Dad keeps unpacking or repacking or adding to the suitcase for no reason (like prunes and sunflower seeds) and I know he’s likely to pack scissors or a pocket knife in his carry on bag at the last minute since he’s done that before. But this time, I’m gonna go through everything with a fine tooth comb and outsmart the dementia!
Today my Dad slept in until shortly after 10:00 so we’ll see how we do on this little trip together. But hey, if the worst thing is that we all get some more sleep….well, that ain’t a bad thing. As long as we make it to our flights on time! Just get me to the flight on time (sing that to the tune of My Fair Lady’s “Get Me To The Church On Time”).
(by the time you are reading this, we are actually ON Vancouver Island)
